Boniface Studio: About the Artist
Renee Boniface was born in Alaska when it was still a Territory. She is the daughter of Anchorage homesteaders. Throughout her life, love and appreciation her environment, music, dance and art have been both encouraged and nurtured. Renee has always had a special love for flowers, both in the wild and those found in her garden. She still resides on a portion of the family homestead surrounded by woods. She holds the degree of Bachelor of Education.
The tiles Renee paints are the wild flowers of Alaska. Behind each flower there is often a family memory and story. Her panels represent flowers in specific locations and how they are found at specific times of the year. Some of these flowers are overlooked or are hidden within the wood, others are more commonly known.
The hand painted tiles Renee shares with you are painted with a French acrylic enamel and heat set. Each is individually painted and unique in it’s design.
